The Composer is an abstract and expressive composition emphasizing color and movement. The viewer is invited to experience it as they will, however, the title offers a bit of insight into my interpretation of this day dreamy painting. The Composer was created by my familiar process of layering paint, scraping away, and adding more layers of paint by intuitively selecting color. At a certain point in the process, I recognized the satisfying feeling that this painting was finished. While there is not a clear figure in the composition, I find the image evokes the intensity of the creative process, which includes deep listening to express what wants to come through.
